Radha and Krishna, the most celebrated couple within Hindu mythology are a common Madhubai subject. Krishna is most often portrayed with his flute with which he enchants his devoted gopis (cowherd girls). Radha is his favourite gopi and their relationship represents Eternal Love. Radha also symbolizes the individual soul that is awakened to the love of God and is absorbed in such love.
